Chakra originated out of Hindu Religious Texts and can also find its roots in Buddhist Religious Texts. Chakra means “Wheel” in Sanskrit and fins its mention in Hindu Upanishads. Chakras are wheels or centres of subtle energy generally located along the central line of the body along the spine. There are 7 Chakras distinct located vertically along the spine. These chakras mainly control our psychological and instinctive activity. Each chakra tends to have its own influence on our nature and well-being.
However, not all of these chakras may remain active or open in a person at a time. So in order to perform at your best and express your true self, it is believed that among these Chakras one Chakra must be open or active in a person at one time. So in total there are 7 Chakras.
The different Seven Chakras are-
Muladhara Base or the Root Chakra (ovaries/prostate)
Swadhisthana or the Sacral Chakra (last bone in spinal cord, the coccyx)
Manipura or the Solar Plexus Chakra (navel area)
Anahata or the Heart Chakra (heart area)
Vishuddha or the Throat Chakra (throat and neck area)
Ajna Brow or the Third Eye Chakra (pineal gland or third eye)
Sahasrara or the Crown Chakra (top of the head; 'soft spot' of a newborn)
